A DAY ON THE WATER

FISHING, SIGHTSEEING OR BOTH!
Experience a memorable day of fishing and boating on the Quabbin Reservoir with Heroes on the Quabbin. Our 501(c)(3) charity provides accessible, relaxing outings for veterans and friends who use wheelchairs. Discover how we make the water welcoming for everyone! A typical outing starts with a safety check for our boats and equipment. Our boats are all compliant for all Massachusetts and Federal Regulations. There are Life Jackets/Personal Flotation Devices for each person on board. We take our safety seriously.
FOR EACH EXCURSION...
We supply all the fishing rods, reels, lures, and bait. If you have your own rod and reel, lucky hat, you are most welcome to bring it. We have binoculars on board for our guests to view the scenery and wildlife. Feel free to bring your own binoculars if you choose.

We meet our guests at a predetermined location. They will either jump in our truck and ride with us (up to four people) or follow us to the fishing site. Usually, the ride is not very long. Meeting at the fishing site is another option.

When we arrive at the boat launch, we get everyone on board safely, review safety protocols for having a safe fun day. We have a 4-footstep stool to help people get in and out of the boat if there is no dock. When everyone is comfortable and settled, we launch the boat and get under way.

A day on the water can be fishing, sightseeing ... or both! When hunger strikes, we treat everyone to lunch and refreshments If you have special diet requests or allergies, please let us know in advance. We try to accommodate everyone's requests.

A typical day on the water can be as short as a few hours and as long as a full day. When the fish are biting, you may want to stay a little longer. Sometimes, the weather has other plans for the day. In the end, we do our best to provide a fun and safe day to all our guests.

WHILE WE'RE OUT ON THE WATER ...
We take several pictures and videos to save these special memories for our guests Our hope is that these memories last a lifetime.

All good things must come to an end. When the outing is over, we will see you safely off the boat, making sure you have all your belongings. As a way of saying thanks, we give each of our guests a small gift of appreciation from Heroes on the Quabbin.

The goal is for our guests to laugh, smile, and have a fun day. We will also be coordinating group outings for several veterans to go out and enjoy the day as a group. We will have multiple boats and captains lined up ready to launch once the group of veterans arrive at the boat launch. Each boat will accommodate two or three guests. We all go out together and fish as a group. Makes for a fun and memorable day.
